Centennial Celebration, July 23, 2006
More than 200 attended the Shell Creek Centennial Celebration that began with services at 4:00 pm led by Pastor Chris Lenning.
Six former pastors shared their special memories of Shell Creek Lutheran with the congregation: Robert Pestal, Ed Bastedo, Steve Anderson, Charles Taft, Paul Kratzke and Chuck Galloway. Other speakers were Gene Striker, son of the late Pastor Dale Striker, and Jan Zook who brought greetings from the Bishop's office. The late Pastor T.P. Nordmark was represented by family members.
Special music was provided by Stan Anderson, great grandson of Goodman Strand, builder of the original Shell Creek Lutheran Church. Music was also provided by Arlene Anderson and Mercadess Hanson, granddaughters of Goodman Strand, along with the "Olson Sisters", Helen Kjellberg and Norma Kjellberg.
Supper and hours of visiting and reminiscing followed the service. Many people used our new map to locate cemetery plots.
